Pootlewriter is a simple, fast, and minimal writing app that I built to help me write better and stay focused. It’s designed for anyone who wants a calm space to get words down without the usual distractions of traditional word processors or complex content tools.
There’s no login, no setup, and no fluff. Just open it up and start writing. Everything you create is stored safely in your browser using local storage, so your content is always right where you left it.
Why I Made It
As someone who writes a lot—blog posts, website copy, YouTube scripts, course notes—I wanted a tool that didn’t get in the way. Most writing apps are either too bloated or too basic. I needed something that:
Let me organise content into draggable, reorderable sections
Saved automatically (without needing to remember to hit “Save”)
Was fast and responsive, even on an older laptop
Had a clean, uncluttered interface
So I made it.
How It Works
Pootlewriter is split into sections you can add, delete, and move around. This makes it easy to plan a piece of content from the top down—or just start writing and figure out the structure later.
There’s no fancy formatting, no Markdown to remember, and no database to worry about. It’s all stored locally in your browser, so your content is private and fast to access.
What It's For
Pootlewriter is great for:
Writers who want a clean slate
Creators planning long-form content
Copywriters drafting landing pages
Bloggers mapping out ideas
Anyone who loves simplicity
It’s still evolving, and I’ve got a few features I’m thinking about adding—but for now, it’s already become my favourite way to write.
