Introduction
This week, I set myself a challenge: testing the most talked-about AI video tools I keep seeing on my X feed. My goal? To find out if they’re truly capable of creating high-quality promotional videos.
TL;DR: Despite all the hype, I still haven’t found an AI video tool that I’d confidently use to promote one of my products.
The Results
Kling
Kling is getting a lot of attention in AI circles, mainly for its impressive lip-syncing capabilities. While the technology is undeniably clever, the final results still have an uncanny quality that doesn’t quite feel natural to me.
Animation version:
Tools Used:
- MidJourney – to generate images
- Runway – to animate images
- 11 Labs – for voiceover
- Kling – to add lip-sync
- Capcut – for video edit
My Take: When it comes to AI-generated videos, I find that embracing animation or a more stylized approach works better than aiming for realism.
✅ Pros: Lip-syncing is solid
❌ Cons: Very time-consuming
Synthesia
Synthesia makes video creation incredibly quick and easy, but there’s something unsettling about the results. If the goal is realism, it has to be perfect—otherwise, my suspension of disbelief shatters instantly. And right now, the output feels… off. Almost like the AI avatars are smiling at you while secretly plotting world domination.
✅ Pros: Fast and user-friendly
❌ Cons: Feels artificial and uncanny
Sora
Sora is OpenAI’s video tool, and I like its approach to storyboarding. However, in my tests, it struggled with character continuity across scenes, making it unsuitable for videos that require consistent storytelling.
✅ Pros: The storyboarding concept is great
❌ Cons: The final output still has that slightly odd AI feel, and continuity is a major issue
Final Thoughts
AI video tools are making big strides, but they’re not quite there yet—at least not for professional promotional content. Right now, they still require significant time and effort to get passable results, and even then, there’s an underlying weirdness that’s hard to ignore.
Would I use them for a marketing campaign? Not yet. But I’m keeping an eye on how they evolve. If you know of any AI video tools that you think I should take a look at, please let me know.
