WordPress 6.8 (coming soon!) will include a behind-the-scenes improvement that helps your website load faster. It’s called speculative loading, but don’t worry about the technical name — here’s what it means in simple terms:
When someone visits your website, they often click around — maybe going from your homepage to a blog post or a shop page. Normally, WordPress only starts loading the next page after the visitor clicks.
With speculative loading, WordPress gets a bit smarter. It can now guess where a visitor might go next and starts quietly loading that next page in the background — before they even click. So when they do click, the page shows up much faster.
Why this matters:
- Faster site = happier visitors. People love quick websites.
- No extra setup needed. This is built right into WordPress — no plugins or settings required.
- It won’t overload your site. WordPress is careful about how it preloads pages so it doesn’t waste resources.
