2.5D parallax effect tutorial – how to turn a static photo into a 2.5 D video

2.5 D is an exciting technique that you can apply to your photos. The great thing about this effect is that you can apply it to old photographs and bring them to life. When used in conjunction with our new free pootle page builder plugin 2.5D photos look really beautiful.  To see how a 2.5D photo looks on a website click here.

Below is an example that I made from a static stock photo downloaded from the Death To The Stock Photo website.

In this tutorial I used the following software.

1. Pixelmator – To create the separate layers of the photo
2. Adobe After Effects – To animate the photo and make it 2.5D
3. Pootle page builder – To add the video to my website.
